then you are going to absolutely adore this red I picked up from Waitrose this afternoon.
Made 100% from a lesser known grape called Barbara, grown on the hills in the Monferrato Astigiano area of Piemonte, this wine is everything you would want from a rich sultry red, particularly on an drizzly autumnal day. The ripe grapes were air-dried for 5-6 weeks to concentrate the flavours and sugars resulting in an off-dry wine perfect for pairing with anything slightly spicy such as the bean chilli I made. Soft, ripe tannins with flavours of red and black ripe fruits, figs and hints of nuts – absolutely delicious.
